Lunch

Our School meals are provided by “Food for thought.”

For many students and your people, a school meal might be the only freshly cooked hot meal they get all day, so it WILL be good quality. It has to be enough, too. We encourage pupils to eat as much as they feel they need to, because no-one should go hungry.

Food For Thought is a not-for-profit school meals company owned by its partner schools.  Any surplus is reinvested in the company or returned to its member schools.

No two terms menus are the same; they are designed to be tasty, fun, adventurous and to broaden the food experience of children and young people.

Our recipes are designed, tested and taste approved by the Food For Thought team, they are nutritionally balanced and meet School Food Standard requirements.

The cooks in our member schools freshly prepare our recipes each day, we have no portion controls which means that pupils can choose the quantity of food they need.

Restricted Diets

We understand that autistic students often have restricted diets due to sensory sensitivities or other factors. Our dedicated chef is committed to ensuring that these students are well-catered for by providing meals that meet their specific dietary requirements.

While we prioritise accommodating their current dietary preferences, our chef will also work closely with these students to gently and gradually introduce a variety of new foods. This approach aims to expand their diet in a supportive and non-invasive manner, promoting better nutrition and a more varied palate.

Our goal is to create a welcoming and inclusive dining experience that respects each student’s unique needs while encouraging positive dietary growth

Paying for lunches

All EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 students get free school meals. For older students, you may also be entitled to free school dinners (see section “Am I enttitled to Free School Meals?” here)

If you wish to pay for school dinners, you can do so via the Parentmail app. (See section “Parentmail” here) The cost of a school meal is £1.80 for primary and secondary aged students. Arrangements can be made for students requiring a special diet for health or religious reasons.  Vegetarian meals are always available.

Packed lunched

Some students wish to eat food brought from home and this is no problem. However, we do ask you to carefully ensure that no “nut products” are sent to school, as we do have students with severe nut allergies.
